Architectural, Aesthetic and Urban Role of Malls in the Development of Tbilisi

In this article we discuss multifunctional centers (shopping malls) as part of the modern city, emphasizing their significant role both in urban development and in the daily lives of citizens. We have reviewed big shopping centers in Tbilisi: “Tbilisi Mall,” “Galleria Tbilisi,” and “East Point.” We have categorized these Malls within relevant classification frameworks and have described and analyzed their architectural and artistic characteristics, spatial organization, and functional structure, etc. The article also addresses both the positive impacts and the challenges associated with the emergence of malls in Tbilisi, such as issues related to urban integration, architectural identity and lack of public spaces.
