The rapid and large-scale changes occurring in the modern world require a deeper study of these processes and an operative response to them. The most important role in this, of course, is assigned to higher education institutions and, first of all, to universities.

It is the structure of the latter that provides a wide space for the establishment of inter- and transdisciplinary connections between faculties and departments of a different profile, which is what scientists recommend today.

Accordingly, the issue of improving the quality of teaching in universities becomes especially relevant.

In the presented work, a number of questions in this direction are considered. Some of them are based on the successful practice of developed countries in the field of education. However, in most cases, the authors of the article recommend not to mechanically transfer successful foreign approaches to our space, but to adapt them to the existing situation in our country.

In particular, to improve the quality of the educational process, taking into account local conditions, a certain modification of the above-mentioned approaches is offered. In some cases, qualitatively new approaches are also used. They are based on the experience of the authors of the article and most of the decisions made are implemented in the form of computer programs.

In addition, opinions are expressed about how new requirements for the educational process in universities should be reflected in the development of educational programs, and what kinds of innovations should be given priority.
