The strategy and ability of probabilistic prediction provide a mechanism of “simultaneity” of simultaneous translation, which is conditional and not absolute. In order to achieve a high degree of “simultaneity”, the translator needs to use a compression mechanism (especially in conditions of time shortage), which focuses on the perception and transmission of only the most informative components of the source language.
