The Middle Corridor and Georgia's Security Challenges

Abstract

The article examines the role and opportunities of Georgia as an important participant in the Middle Corridor project, as well as the potential economic and political benefits that Georgia can receive. The paper discusses the importance of the "middle corridor" or the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) for Georgia's political security. Given the potential for economic benefits for states, there are likely actors who could jeopardize the implementation of the project. Accordingly, our article discusses the intelligence activities expected from states during the project implementation process and the likely actions of Georgia intelligence and in response to them. The study identifies threats, the impact of which may hinder Georgia's participation in the project, and also presents important measures to neutralize threats / minimize the risk of impact.
