Abstract

The paper discusses the migration of gallstone from theabdominal cavity to the right upper quadrant muscles of theanterior abdominal wall where an abscess had formed. Thepatient had a laparoscopic cholecystectomy due to acutephlegmonous-calculous cholecystitis 9 years ago. Presum-ably, gallbladder concretions, fallen in the abdominal cavityduring the operation, migrated transperitoneally to the mus-cles of the right subcostal area. A year ago he received atrauma that led to the development of an abscess around thegallstone. The abscess cavity was cut parallel to the rib arch,on the tumor in the right pelvic area, the cavity was drainedand the gallstone was removed. The abscess cavity waswashed out and drained. The patient recovered. It is con-cluded, that after laparoscopic cholecystectomy, if a stonefalls from the gallbladder into the abdominal cavity, we shoulddo our best to remove this foreign body within the mini-invasion to avoid complications such as abdominal or ante-rior abdominal wall abscess, which requires reoperation.
