XXI საუკუნის საერთაშორისო სისტემაში ღრმა ცვლილებები მიმდინარეობს. ფორმალურად დასრულდა ცივი ომის შემდგომი უნიპოლარული სტრუქტურა და იწყება ახალი, მრავალპოლარული წესრიგის კონფიგურირება. ამ პროცესში განსაკუთრებული მნიშვნელობა შეიძინა BRICS-ის გაერთიანებამ (ბრაზილია, რუსეთი, ინდოეთი, ჩინეთი, სამხრეთ აფრიკა), რომელიც სულ უფრო აქტიურად ითამაშებს სისტემურ როლს გლობალურ პოლიტიკურ და ეკონომიკურ პროცესებში. წარმოდგენილ სტატიაში შესწავლილია BRICS-ის სტრუქტურული თავისებურებები, მისი სტრატეგიული მისწრაფებები, როგორც გლობალური სამხრეთის გეოეკონომიკური გამოხატულება და მისი რეალური შესაძლებლობები, შეცვალოს ძალაუფლების საერთაშორისო განაწილება. განხილულია, თუ როგორ იქცა BRICS ახალი მსოფლიო წესრიგის ერთ-ერთ არქიტექტორად, განსაკუთრებით აშშ-ს ჰეგემონიის შესუსტებისა და დასავლური ლიბერალური წესრიგის კრიზისის ფონზე.
