This article explores the potential role of developing transport connectivity in the South Caucasus, specifically within the context of routes passing through southern Armenia (frequently referred to as the "Zangezur Corridor"). The paper analyzes the economic, geopolitical, and regional integration implications within the broader framework of Eurasian transport corridors, including the Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route) and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
The research draws upon reports from international organizations (World Bank, OECD, European Union) and peer-reviewed academic literature. The findings indicate that while enhanced transport links could foster trade development and regional integration, their effectiveness is significantly dependent on political agreements, issues of sovereignty, and the prevailing geopolitical environment.
