Abstract

Nail diseases are often found in clinical practice. Nail changes can be a manifestation of serious systemic diseases that require further investigation. Only clinical diagnosis in nail diseases is not enough and requires additional studies. Moreover, histological confirmation is difficult due to the time-consuming and unpleasant process of nail biopsy. Onychoscopy is one of the most important parts of the dermoscopy. The onychoscopic metaphoric signs and symptoms described in the literature help the doctors to make the correct diagnosis and determine the ways of further treatment.
