Abstract

Fishing is one of the oldest branches of agriculture, its origins date back to the early stages of human development. Georgia, which has been home to Georgian tribes since time immemorial, has been distinguished by excellent conditions for the development of fishing and sailing. In this regard, the indigenous population of Lazeti is interesting, who have been known since ancient times as acrobats of maritime affairs, strong, dexterous, courageous and the best swimmers, who have no equal in their work. In Lazeti, various traditions, cuisine, folklore are associated with fishing activities, which are uniquely reflected in the work of the Laze marine artist Khasan Helimish. A collection of paintings is preserved in the Lazei Ethnographic Museum in Sarpi.
