Abstract

The Mkinvartsveri (Kazbegi) polygenetic neovolcanic center, located in the central part of the Greater Caucasus is one of the most powerful manifestations of Late Cenozoic volcanism in Georgia. Its lavas, mainly andesites and dacites, contain various types of enclaves, including xenoliths, autoliths, and mafic microgranular enclaves (MMEs). The study of their morphological, petrographic, and petrogeochemical features provides important information about the evolution of the magmatic system and the dynamic processes which take place in it.
