Black-figure oinochoai From the Collection of the Ajara Museum

The article discusses two black-figure oinochoai discovered during the campaigns of the joint Georgian-British Archaeological Expedition in Pichvnari (Kobuleti), housed in the Amiran Kakhidze Ajara Archaeological Museum of the Ajara Museum. The oinochoai belong to Type I of J. Beazley’s classification. They were produced in the Workshop of the Athena Painter and are dated to 500–475 BC.
Through the attribution of the black-figure oinochoai, Pichvnari has emerged as a new site on the distribution map of Attic black-figure pottery.
