Teaching Grammar Issues Integrated with Text

According to the National Curriculum, a student should acquire such knowledge at the primary level that he/she can: “Functionally use linguistic and grammatical means and vocabulary knowledge to solve specific tasks.”

However, considering that the development of students’ meta-linguistic skills begins in grades V-VI, it is necessary to give the processing of linguistic and grammatical issues a more systematic and consistent nature.

Integrated teaching of grammatical issues in relation to the text is an approach whose goal is to teach grammar not separately, but in an organic connection with texts, so that students acquire grammatical knowledge within a communicative context, together with content and meaning.

The work establishes 6 basic principles of integrated learning and issues that are important in integrated learning. These are: text as a learning center; meaningful work on the text; discovery-based learning; functional approach to the issue and application of the acquired knowledge in practice.

The effectiveness of these approaches is established, since language is perceived as a living system. The following examples are used: a) a small text, b) Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani's fable "Encoded by Language" and c) specially designed tasks. It discusses elementary grammar issues based on text data.

I assigned an important function to the goals set for activities and correctly developed, description, development and use of task cards, methodological instructions and the importance of student assessment.
