The present paper is devoted to the study of idiomatic components in phraseological units from a linguocultural perspective, based on material from the English and Georgian languages. A phraseological unit is examined not only as a linguistic phenomenon but also as a bearer of cultural memory that reflects a nation’s worldview, traditions, and historical experience. Of particular interest is the identification of the structural, semantic, and cultural features of idiomatic components in phraseological units, as well as demonstrating how these components determine expressive meaning and cultural specificity.
Through a comparative and comprehensive analysis of English and Georgian phraseological material, their distinctive features become clearly visible. The analyzed data convincingly show that idiomatic components—especially somatic elements, metaphors, and culturally marked images—play a significant role in preserving cultural identity and in shaping the semantic motivation of phraseological units.
