Abstract

In the literary questionnaire of one of the almanacs there was such a question: “Some prose writers considered themselves slave poets. Do you share this view?”

Revaz Inanishvili ended his extremely interesting answer like this: ”Why me?” I am still a poet today. If you give me the right to smile, I’ll give you that too, - a poet who works with prose, and I saw it is a good thing”.

Anna Kalandadze called Revaz Inanishvili a “prosaic poet”.

It seems interesting to us that Revaz Inanishvili’s views on “poetic voice” are similar to Mukhran Machavariani’s point of view. Mukhran Machavariani wrote: “Voice is the main thing! A voice corresponding to what is being said!” In his opinion, “a poem cannot be considered at all as thinking in artistic forms”…

Revaz Inanishvili “classifies” these “voices” and advises us to read his stories in a voice suitable for them (these works): “Most of my stories are intended to be read aloud like poems…

In “Bibo” the phrases are short, in any case, they require frequent pauses; “White-nosed and black-nosed” on the contrary, I think, should be read in one breath”…

I sometimes read in a whisper the story “Someone is late for the bus”, in a soft voice – “Firosman”, “When the forest are robbed” and others.

Therefore, the “linguistic fabric” is also different – although they have some nuances in common, and this is what makes me different from others.”

It is even possible to discern the appropriate “linguistic fabric” of these “voices”; Clasification of linguistic and stylistic features? – This is what these recording of Revaz Inanishvili will make us think about…
