Akaki Tsereteli about heroic novels

Abstract

"Karamanian" was one of the most popular books in Georgia in the 19th century, so it is not surprising that publishers became interested in this text immediately after the revival of the printing business. Akaki Tsereteli considered printing a book a very responsible job. In his opinion, it depended on the publishers how the process of forming the literary taste of the reading public would proceed; Akaki believed that the publishers of "Karamaniani" and similar works did not realize what damage they were doing to the world cause. Despite the uniquely negative attitude towards heroic Saraindo novels, it is obvious that the text of "Karamanian" had some influence on the work of Akaki Tsereteli, individual passages of which are effectively reflected not only in his artistic prose, but also in his poems. We think this issue requires even more in-depth research.
