In the papyrus fragments discovered at the site of the ancient city of Oxyrhynchus, various lists of individuals are found, including a catalog of the "librarians" of the Library of Alexandria. Based on this data, researchers attempt to reconstruct a chronological list of the chief librarians of the Library of Alexandria. The probable lists compiled from the existing evidence once again highlight the role of librarians in ancient society. The aim of this study is to examine the activities of librarians and their influence on the transmission of intellectual heritage.
