Abstract

Article aims to discuss the interrelations of referentiality, nomination and determination in English short story. According to the concept of culture, we should consider “literary world” as cultural word, which represents referential space . Nouns nominated in the text express the category of Nomination and  Determination ( the definiteness/indefiniteness) in the same way and creates the Referential Structure of a literary narrative. The second scheme of theme progression  is realized in short story- ‘‘Lost in the post’’(Philips), where the narration is represented in the third person. One of the most important phenomena of the English language, namely that of the article is considered from linguoculturological point of view.
