Abstract

The paper examines the role of events in museum development, focusing on their mechanisms of influence and potential in enhancing tourism and regional visibility. The core mission of museums—preserving cultural heritage, conducting scientific research, implementing educational programs, and promoting heritage—is closely connected to event organization, which is considered one of the leading fields in today’s culture and tourism industry. The aim of the study is to analyze the current dynamics of events in museums, assess their effectiveness, and outline perspectives for future development.

The research methodology combines quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including the study of secondary sources, processing of statistical data (ICOM, NEMO), and in-depth interviews with target group representatives. The study discusses the typology of events (local, universal, distinctive, and mega-events) and the key factors determining organizational success—strategic planning, efficient use of resources, risk assessment, and marketing support.

The analysis revealed that events significantly increase museum attendance, contribute to the positive image of the country and the region, foster local economic development, and create opportunities for social integration. The strengths of successful events include diverse cultural resources, professional staff, governmental support, and affordable ticket policies. At the same time, weaknesses and risks have been identified, the elimination of which requires systematic management and continuous innovation.

The findings conclude that events in museums are not only a tool for attracting visitors but also a strategic lever for promoting cultural heritage and establishing the museum’s competitive advantage, which has a significant impact on the country’s image and the growth of tourist flows.
