Abstract

The increasing incidence of congenital syphilis over the past decades poses a serious public health problem. Consequently, great importance is placed on the diagnosis of syphilis in pregnant women and routine antenatal screening for the infection. Timely detection and adequate treatment of both the mother and the neonate are crucial for preventing a wide range of complications during pregnancy, as well as for the ultimate goal of eliminating congenital syphilis.
