M.Javakhishvili and K. Gamsakhurdia’s controversy over language issues

Abstract

At the beginning of the XXth century, two prose writers were added to the large family of Georgian writers – Mikheil Javakhishvili and Konstantine Gamsakhurdia; Two classic writers… The language situation in Georgia is wuite difficult. Mikheil Javakhishvili, when assessing the current linguistic situation, writes;”Here, the biggest task is to clean the language, and the first commander of this case should be a Georgian writer, and if the latter can expose others, he must first heal himself”.And he took over the leadership of this case… Soon K. Gamsakhurdia stood up… The unity of M. Javakhishvili and K. Gamsakhurdia was the force that was able to cintinue the traditional linguistic master line of the XIX century with dignity in the XX century.
