Teaching by Means of Case Study

Abstract

         Case study is an in-depth analysis of various educational, psychological or social aspects by a student or a group of students. A case study involves gathering detailed information that builds a complete picture through observations, interviews, and review of records. The purpose of case studies is to bring out the complexities of real-life situations that students face. This makes  a method of case study a valuable tool for educational research. Case-based learning is process-oriented rather than outcome-oriented. Educators and researchers use this method to develop strategies for improving the learning environment. In addition, case studies allow students to demonstrate their judgmental, critical and analytical thinking skills. Case-based learning involves real-world challenges. It teaches students how to deal with the challenges of their future careers. Case studies are useful not only in education, but also in business, politics, and other field when handling  important issues.
