Our article deals with the interaction of the characters in the novel Bruno’s Dream by Iris Murdoch. The famous novelist with the mastery characteristic of her, spins the web of unforgettable characters even though about half of her character types have become her own sterotypical ones that we encounter from novel to novel. The essential aspect about Murdoch’s novel is the fact that the writer weaves her ideas on moral philosophy in her fiction as well apart from her proper philosophical works. The story of an old man, Bruno Greensleeve who is slowly dying confined to one bleek room in London, also embraces the fates of half a dozen other protagonists. They are all interconnected through Bruno and it seems as if they are all caught in the same cobweb. Clinging to and brooding about their past sins and resentments, they become free of their painful pasts once they dare to face the reality; some through asking for forgiveness, some through the true love and all of them through understanding the other one.
