Hirotake Maeda is a professor of Eurasian studies at Tokyo Metropolitan University. His main academic interest is to investigate the historical activities of the peoples of the Caucasus in broader Eurasian spaces. His Ph.D. work is on the activities of military-administrative elites from the Caucasus in Safavid Iran. His book in Georgian “Georgians in Safavid Iran ქართველები სეფიანთა ირანში” was twice published in Tbilisi by Artanuji publishers in 2008 and 2011. The book was also published in Iran in Persian in 2018 as “Four Georgian dynasties in the Safavid period چھار دودمان گرجی در عصر صفوی ” by Entesharat-e Aramghan-e Tarikh. He was invited three times with travel grants to conferences at the University of Michigan (2008), Stanford University (2011), and Yale University (2014), was visiting scolar at the Department of Near Eastern Studies, Princeton University (2019-2020).
