This paper explores the growth trends, fundamental characteristics, and key elements of short videos. It examines the evolution of motion pictures into short video formats, identifying the factors that have influenced this transformation over the years. Furthermore, the study analyzes the impact of technological advancements on viewer habits and the increasing demand for short video content.
The rising popularity of short videos can be attributed to several factors: Technological advancements; Authenticity and trust in content; The influence of social media algorithms; Personalized recommendations and relevant content; The spread of viral trends and the ease of sharing; The appeal of bite-sized content; The development of mobile devices, particularly faster internet speeds; Dopamine-driven content consumption; Fear of Missing Out (FOMO); The need for entertainment.
This paper also examines the effects of the shift towards short-form video content, including: Changes in media consumption habits, The democratization of content creation, The rise of influencer culture, The evolution of visual storytelling, The formation of new social and cultural dynamics.
As a cultural phenomenon, short videos share aesthetic components with other artistic disciplines. Thus, the study outlines essential elements for creating successful short videos: Effective storytelling techniques, Visual aesthetics, Structural narrative frameworks, Experimental approaches in video production.
Additionally, audio plays a crucial role in short videos.
