Cardinal Cisneros is one of the central historical figures in the religious, political and cultural life of Spain. A lot of important events are associated with the name of the Archbishop of Toledo, Cardinal Cisneros, including church reform in Castile, which predates Martin Luther's Reformation movement by two decades. As part of the church reform, Cisneros first aims to eliminate the moral crisis in the Castilian clergy, and then for the education and intellectual growth of the same clergy, he establishes a university in Alcala - Universitas Complutensis and prints the first multilingual Bible - „Biblia políglota Complutense“. It was on the initiative of Cisneros that the Bible - both the original text and the Greek (Septuagint) and Latin (Vulgate) translations - was processed and printed.
