რექტოცელე - ქრონიკული დამაუძლურებელი სიპტომოკომპლექსით მიმდინარე დაავადებაა, რომლის განვითარების საფუძველია მენჯის სტრუქტურების ანატომიურ-მორფოლოგიური დარღვევები, უპირატესად რექტოვაგინური ძგიდის მიდამოში. შედეგად ვითარდება სწორი ნაწლავის წინა კედლის დივერტიკულისმაგვარი გამობერილობა საშოს უკანა კედლის მიმართულებით (წინა რექტოცელე), ან/და უკანა კედლის გამობერილობა ყითა-კუდუსუნის იოგის მიმართულებით (უკანა რექტოცელე).რექტოცელე ვითარდება ქალებში. მენჯის და შორისის სტრუქტურების ანატომიურ-ფუნქციური ცვლილებები, როგორც წესი, ნეგატიურად აისახება მათი ცხოვრების ხარისხზე: დეფეკაციაზე კონტროლის დაკარგვით - ყაბზობით და გახანგრძლივებული ჭინთვებით, სწორ ნაწლავზე და ვაგინაზე ზეწოლის შეგრძნებით, შარდის და აირების შეუკავებლობით. ვითარდება დამახასიათებელი შორისის დაწევის სინდრომი (ე.წ. “მენჯის პროლაფსი” – [5]), რექტოცელე, ცისტოცელე, ენტეროცელე, საშოს პროლაფსი.რექტოცელეს განვითარების რისკი მატულობს მძიმე და ხანგრძლივი ფიზიკურ დატვირთვის, ქრონიკული ყაბზობის [9], ჭარბი წონის [4], განმეორებითი ორსულობის [3], გართულებული მშობიარობის და შორისის დაზიანების შემთხვევებში [2].
