The article “Efforts of the Municipal Government of the City of Tbilisi - the Mayor’s Office to ensure Employment of the Population” - an education and employment program under the name “Study and Work” developed and implemented by the Mayor’s Office since 2018 is presented and evaluated. This program implied the training of unemployed people registered in the city of Tbilisi in the profile of their choice without paying any tuition fees. At the same time, the Mayor’s Office chose three colleges as partners - “Spectri”, “Mermis”, “Ikaros” and “Gldani Vocational Training Center”. In addition, more than 100 enterprises and institutions have been approved as partners, where students will undergo internships and then be employed.
This program is already being implemented in more than 40 specialties. 6,500 people were trained, 70% of them were employed. The Mayor’s Office decided to include another 10 thousand unemployed in this program in the period 2023-2025.
In the article, this attempt by the Tbilisi City Hall was assessed very positively and an opinion was expressed about its continuation on an ongoing basis.
