ვირტუალური კტ კოლონოსკოპია არის მსხვილი ნაწლავის გამოკვლევის ზუსტი, მაღალინფორმაციული და ნაკლებინვაზიური მეთოდი. ვირტუალური კტ კოლონოსკოპიის უპირატესი და დამატებითი დადებითი უნარია არანაწლავური პათოლოგიების გამოვლენის შესაძლებლობა. მსხვილი ნაწლავის განვითარების ანომალიების, დივერტიკულების, პოლიპების, კიბოსა და სხვა მოცულობითი წარმონაქმნების მიმართ მეთოდის მგრძნობელობისა და სპეციფიურობის მაღალი მაჩვენებლების საფუძველზე შეიძლება დავასკვნათ, რომ ვირტუალური კტ კოლონოსკოპია არის მსხვილი ნაწლავის დაავადებათა დიაგნოსტიკისა და სკრინინგის ერთ-ერთი ძირითადი მეთოდი.
